We may have just found a silver lining!

We’ve read news stories about it, seen it on television and reminded time and again that smoking isn’t good for you. It’s injurious to one’s health.

That’s exactly what The World Health Organization, Food and Drug Administration, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and basically every medical board and association on the face of the Earth has repeatedly told us.

But what if we told you that smoking comes with it’s own range of health benefits? Would you believe us?

What if we told you that, were smokers be fortunate enough to dodge all that cancer, heart disease, emphysema, they will be uniquely protected — for reasons unexplained by science — against a handful of diseases and afflictions.

We’re calling it a silver lining in our the otherwise blackened lungs. Although long-term smoking is largely a ticket to early death, here are five possible benefits from smoking.

Smoking lowers risk of obesity

That’s right. Several studies have proven that a reasonable amount of nicotine in the system reduces the risks of obesity. However, it is to be kept in mind that moderation is key.

Smoking lowers risk of Parkinson’s disease

A recent study from Harvard School of Public Health, reaffirms previous evidence that smoking can indeed lower the risk of Parkinson’s disease.

The Study further elaborated that; compared to people who had never smoked and were considered to have “normal” Parkinson’s disease risk, former smokers had a 22-percent lower risk of Parkinson’s disease and current smokers had a 73-percent lower risk.

As per a study by the University of Adelaide in Australia, it was revealed that men who smoke had less risk of undergoing total joint replacement surgery than those who never smoked. Could this mean that the nicotine in tobacco helps prevent cartilage and joint deterioration?

Smoking helps the heart drug clopidogrel work better.

Clopidogrel is a drug used to inhibit blood clots for those patients suffering from coronary artery disease and other circulatory diseases leading to strokes and heart attacks. Smoking seems to help clopidogrel do its job better.

While smoking may contain all this benefits, we advise you to exercising healthy restraint and enjoy your next smoke responsibly.
